Experience
I have two years of public school experience working as a leave replacement teacher in language arts literacy. I worked with grades 6th, 7th, and 8th over the course of the year. I have experience working with the LEADS model, also know as literacy is essential to adolescent development and success. This program incorporates all subjects into the language arts curriculum. I am knowledgeable of the reading and writing workshop model used in many schools today. This program invites students to enjoy a 10 to 15 minute mini lesson, encourages independent practice and small group instruction. The lesson closes by encouraging discussion among peers . Lastly, I am very experienced preparing students for the NJASK and SAT prep (in the Verbal Section) I use a variety of different strategies and study skills to prepare students to conquer these standardized tests. I want to be a tutor because of my passion and love for teaching. I find teaching to be extremely rewarding. I am compassionate toward the needs of the students. I am also uplifting and motivating and use a lot of praise to raise students self esteem and confidence levels.
